Direct Marketers Still Don’t Get Search Engine Marketing
Jeremy Zawodny attended the annual conference of the Direct Marketing Association in Atlanta this week and reconfirmed the mantra one of my old clients (a master of direct marketing) was preaching for years “Direct Marketers know nothing of search marketing.”
From Jeremy : In talking to some of the Search Engine Marketing folks that were in sessions on Saturday, I discovered that the vast majority of DMA folks are very, very, very new to Search Marketing. I’d go so far as to say many of them are incredibly clueless about the process, benefits, costs, etc.
I was shocked by this. But it just goes to show the differences between the tech-savvy west coast bubble I live in day to day and the real-world.
Yeah Jeremy, Direct Marketing is still a Glen Gary Glen Ross world, but once those old school industry boys get a taste of the search marketing ROI and conversions, they’ll be quite content.
