Yahoo Search Update with More Slurp Crawler Activity

Priyank Garg has posted on the Yahoo Search Blog that the Yahoo Search Index will be updating this weekend. Garg says the the update should result in ranking changes along with the ‘shuffling’ (does this mean ‘booting’?) of pages which are included in the current Yahoo Search Index.

This week’s Yahoo Search update should also include some spikes in crawler activity:

You might also be seeing a temporary spike in crawler activity. As these things go, all this should stabilize in the near future.

Some large site and forum owners I’ve talked with recently have commented on the current intensity of Yahoo crawling being much more than Googlebot or other search engines, so one has to wonder just how much of a spike will be seen.

Luckily, if there are any bandwidth issues on the arise, Yahoo has planned the update to occur after the first of the month, so server allowance of bandwidth should be refreshed on most hosting accounts by then.
