Google Announces Winners of Android Developer Challenge

Google’s Android Developer Challenge is now completed and 10 development teams have won awards of $275,000 for their cutting edge and unique applications for use on the Android mobile platform. 10 other teams also won awards of $100,000. All teams presented overviews of their Android apps, and the technology and coding which was used to put them together.

Some of the winning apps that I think are quite useful include :

• PicSay : Easy to use image editor that enables you to quickly personalize your pictures and share them with friends or photo sites.
• Wertago : The mobile application nightlifers have been waiting for. Find the hottest parties in town and connect with friends and others all night long.
• cab4me : cab4me enables you to easily call a cab to any location worldwide. You do not need to know the number of the local cab company. You do not need to enter or even know the address you want to be picked up at. You do not need to place a call. With cab4me you can order a cab to your current location with a single click.
