Open Discussion : Favorite Social Media Monitoring Tool?

The Search & Social team is currently comparing various social media monitoring tools like Radian6, Trackur, Visible Technologies, Reinvigorate and several others.

We’re also looking into the nuances between tracking and monitoring :

* Social buzz mentions
* Incoming links via Facebook, Twitter and microblogging
* Social media & influence mapping amongst the blogosphere
* User sentiment : positive vs. negative mentions

Do you use or recommend a social media monitoring tool not on this list? If so, please feel free to mention it in the comments below with a little bit of details on why you like it and how it has helped your business.

  1. Sysomos has two services that meet your needs: Heartbeat (monitoring and measurement) and MAP (analytics and in-depth reports). Both services feature geo-demographics, automated sentiment, the ability to identify and engage with key influencers and opinion leaders, on-the-fly translation into multiple language, and the ability to apply a wide variety of filters to refine queries. More information about both services can be found here: http://www.sysomos.com/products.

  2. I've been playing with Viral Heat and looking into Sysomos as well as IBM's SPSS Modeler.

    The real question is: We know that marketers have started tapping into open-graph to monitor public Facebook status updates for keyword expressions in an effort to generate leads. When will Facebook become a spam haven and will it force Facebook to limit that API?

  3. My favorite is YackTrack, but I am biased as the developer. Besides the ones that you mentioned, I have heard good things about Sysomos, Techrigy and ScoutLabs as well.

    YackTrack does watch various social media sites like Digg, Mixx and Twitter. However, it does not monitor Facebook yet, but it should be coming soon. YackTrack is also free right now, but there will be premium features eventually like sentiment metrics.

  4. Thanks Loren for including Trackur.com on your list.

    Of course, you realize that your request for people to leave a comment with their favorite is going to result in every vendor under the sun leaving a comment. This could go down as SEJ's most commented post ever! :-P

    BTW, if you ever have any questions on Trackur, you know how to reach me. ;-)

    Cheers!

  5. Haha this is a great example of the old axiom: The developer with the best social media monitoring tool gets the first comment on the blog post about social media monitoring tools.
