For those long term search marketers who have been taking advantage of Yahoo’s generosity of allowing grandfathered bids below $.10 from campaigns which were carried over from Goto.com and Overture, those days are over.
According to an email sent to a Webmasterworld member, Yahoo will not be honoring the old Goto.com grandfathered $.01 and $.05 minimum bids after advertiser accounts are upgraded:
Important Note Regarding Grandfathered Bids : In addition, our current minimum bid requirement of $0.10 will be enforced after an account is upgraded. This will impact your keywords that are grandfathered to bids below $0.10.
Although one can sympathize with the advertisers having to expand their budgets in this instance, Yahoo is moving in the right direction by further ensuring it will be successfully monetizing search and not giving out any more ‘charity’ one cent clicks.

Well, I would prefer that Yahoo concentrate more on cracking down on click fraud than nickel and dime their advertisers. The new system is set up a lot like Google’s Adwords, which squeezes every penny out of us with their secret sauce of a ranking algo, so Yahoo is already set up to rake in more cash.
Just my personal opinion.
