MSN Search Indexing Google 302 Redirects

Search engine marketers have been steaming up a discussion about how some searches on MSN Search, such as “batman room decor“, are serving Google redirects to different websites via Google Groups links or Froogle.

Dave Naylor (DaveN) notes that MSN Search is in a love affair with 302 redirects and was quite mad that Google says they do not use 302 redirects, when indeed they do. Dave points to the MSN cache of the Google listing indexed in MSN for a “Batman Animated Bean Bag” search.

Danny Sullivan goes into a little deeper explanation at Search Engine Watch Blog on the “MSN Hijacking” of Google 302 redirects.
