Among the 1,000 layoffs at Yahoo was that of Jessica Bowman, who had the dual role of Senior SEO Manager and SEO Evangelist at Yahoo, and received her pinkslip this week.
As you know by now, life at Yahoo! wasn’t pleasant this week and I’m happy to report that that their in-house SEO program is now so good, that I was laid off!
I knew that my job would be done when an in-house evangelist wasn’t needed anymore. On the way out I got hugs from engineers… it was a job well done.
Jessica, given her strong relationship with recruiters and being an outspoken authority in leading an in-house SEO team after her positions with Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Business.com and then Yahoo! will not be on the market for long, so if your Fortune 500 company is looking for a proven professional to run your in-house SEO team, review Jessica’s credentials and contact Jessica Bowman.

Wow, that’s a bit of a shock, actually. I think I submitted a resume at the time Yahoo was looking for an SEO Evangelist, but maybe not. Getting old means the memory goes!
Anyway, I know Jessica will be snatched up in a minute! Wouldn’t surprise me if she’s taken by the time we meet at SMX West!

Unfortunate news, but I’m sure Jessica will find a more stable job in no time. Not so sure about Yahoo though…

Bummer but I don’t believe she will be unemployed for long.
I’m sure the “In House Issues” session at SMX West will take on a new dimension.
Getting laid-off and job seeking is an issue that effects all In-House people at one time or another.

Unfortunate, but yeah… like Jessica will have a tough time finding work. :P
She’s probably been getting inquiries left and right the entire time she was at Yahoo…

Wow, now why would yahoo go ahead and do that unless they actually thought that Jessica was not working in par with the pay package she was receiving? Reading her statement I assume she obviously was not very happy with yahoo for a long time.
Anycase, a lady fired is a penny saved. So I am with yahoo on this one.. Sorry ladies .

Yahoo feels that the MSN bid undervalued the company, and yet they are laying off ~1000 people. Sounds like the company is talking out of both sides of their mouth.

Wow, she won’t be jobless for long. Striking up a strategic business partnership with somebody might be more to her taste though. Being your own boss rocks!

Yeah, she won’t be unemployed for long. Jessica, if you read this, take a vacation NOW. You won’t be unemployed for long, so enjoy the free time while it lasts!
