Google’s Personalized Homepage Gets More Personal

Google has renamed its personalized homepage into iGoogle and added a facility for users to add some nifty Gadgets such as:

  • Framed photo slides – share photos with friends through online slides,
  • Google gram – send friends and loved ones special messages,
  • Daily Me – Twitter- like snippets?,
  • Free Form – mini blog posts?
  • You Tube Channel – share personal videos uploaded from, where else but YouTube,
  • Personal list – Top ten lists, gadget wish lists,

Any iGoogle users can easily create their own gadgets using the default iGoogle templates, personalize it, and then tell their friends about it in a snap.

Aside from the iGoogle gadgets, Google also extends the customization features of the personalized homepage by making the Themes available to all Google users.

Pretty cool new features and yet lacking with originality. Use it, try it, scrutinize it, but don’t tell me that you haven’t seen those kind of features before.

This looks just like av average run-of-the-mill start page of the type that has been around for a long time. Google usually puts a new spin on stuff they implement, but this doesn’t really look very original.

Johan, I agree with your observation. But if it’s from Google, no matter how unoriginal it is, it will definitely create a big fuzz. :-)
