Google AdSense is spreading further in Eastern Europe, opening up new money making opportunities for publishers who run sites in the Bulgarian and Serbian languages.
From the Inside AdSense Google Groups :
Two more languages — Bulgarian and Serbian — have just joined the AdSense for content family, and AdSense for search has also launched in Serbian. We know that web publishers in these regions have been waiting for for a long time — thank you for your continued patience. To get started with AdSense for content or AdSense for search, log in to your account and follow the wizard located under the AdSense Setup tab.
Google AdSense has been available in Bulgaria and Serbia, but not in conjunction with monitoring and serving ads relevant to the native language content available on pages.
This makes me wonder, how many other languages does Google AdSense currently not support? And would investment in popular sites in such languages before they find the magic of Google AdSense be a smart business plan?

Nice find.

All it will take is a willing translator and a strong MFA publisher to get that snowball rolling downhill.
That said, being one of the first can payout monumentally… Anyone know the value of the dollar against the Bulgarian currency of the lev? :)

Sure. Not only because of AdSense, but because of emerging Internet markets in those countries overall.

“being one of the first can payout monumentally”
Eric, I agree. Sure, these markets will probably not see the crazy payouts as the first AdSense days, but I’d imagine that as ‘early adopters’ their readership will respond with interest and actions.

Reminds me of the Google Rediff acquisition rumors and the competition by the big guns to take the established yet emerging Indian market.

Milos, it appears that your site is in Serbian (please correct me if I’m wrong) but accessing outside of the Serb borders (from US for example), I’m served a mix of ads in English, Albanian and Czech.
Are you currently being served Serbian ads and if so, what percentage of the AdSense ads are in the language of your site and content?

Yes, it is kind of “Google News” for Serbia.
AdSense is served for Serbian language, I have put that google_language=’sr’ to make it easier for AdSense. But Google always geo-target your IP so you might see ads on English as well since you are from the US.
Right now, there is a small number of AdWords advertisers in Serbia, so sometimes ad space is filled with ads from markets that use the same language, like Croatian.
Since I believe that much more publishers will join AdSense after supporting Serbian, I expect that the number of advertisers will grow as well.
