I’ve been reviewing rank-checking tools previously and also looked at both sides of the problem asking the readers if rank checking is worthwhile in general. Anyway, whether Google rankings are in your SEO campaign focus or not, you might be interested to know about a new rank checking and comparing tool: ExactFactor.
This handy utility combines my favorite features: it is free, simple and user-friendly. It requires no membership (unless you want to track rankings) and allows to quickly:
- check any domain rankings for maximum 3 terms;
- compare your rankings with your competitor;
- check rankings across three search engines (Google, Yahoo, Live);
- choose country preferences for each of the above engines;
- set the checking depth (and hence the service speed).
- It will also offer you to sign up and save your report for further reference.

Once sign up, you can also set an email alert once:
- your search engine position is up/down;
- your domain gets in top 10 results (or any you set);
- your competitor makes is to the first page, etc.
Related tool: SheerSEO (which has recently become paid).

Comparing with competitors is a cool feature. Even though traffic doesn’t equal quality users and conversations, it seems like a helpful feature to have a comparison for the ratings.
Have you run across any good rank-checking browser plugins? The only one I’ve seen so far is RankChecker by seobook.com. It’s pretty good, but I was curious if there were any others out there.
I’m using Exactfactor for a while, but i don’t believe that the ranking statistics are reliable. What’s your opinion?
Do any of these tools show historical data to compare rankings with?
ie (1 month ago vs now)
@Ankur, I am pretty sure you can’t compare rankings over time. I’ll also try to get the tool creators come and answer the comments to this post.
I’ve using ExactFactor for a while. I can tell you that I can compare ranking over time. ExactFactor makes a ranking report each week.
Sweet. Thanks Dave.
Dear Ann
Very useful tool
Thanks
