JetBlue : Brand Reputation on Search Engines

Excellent observation by Michael Gray that when performing a search for JetBlue on Google’s Image Search, three or four images are served of the crash landing of a JetBlue plane, including the second image on the page.

Results on Google Video Search are also full of JetBlue emergency landing footage.

Luckily for JetBlue, Google Universal Search has not yet included images & videos of the landing for their company name in its Web Search results. For that matter, Yahoo Search does not either. Ask.com, however, does serve images & videos in its results for JetBlue, but none for the famous emergency landing.

As multimedia, citizen journalism and user generated content become more and more integrated into traditional search, it is going to become more critical than ever for companies to pay close attention to their search reputations and take full advantage of the ability to upload videos, publish images, and make sure their search marketing strategy goes beyond site SEO, and into optimization for video, image, user reviews, Yahoo Answers and other forms of search which can be influenced via PR & SEO.
