Google UK Adds Google Maps StreetView

SMS Text

A long time in waiting, Google UK and Google Netherlands have launched Google Maps StreetView in those respected countries. News of Google StreetView hitting the UK started a year back when Google officially announced that the project will begin and Google cars and private contractors were seen filming the streets of the UK.

Of course the UK and the rest of the EU are a little stiffer on their privacy laws than the United States, and blurred faces, image controls and license plates will be implemented from the beginning.

Blogoscoped (with a cool streetview image cap of Abbey Road) reports that cities in the UK which appear to have the street-level panoramic photos include: Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Coventry, Derby, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Nottingham, Oxford, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, Southampton and York (England); Belfast (Northern Ireland); Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow (Scotland); Cardiff and Swansea (Wales).
