Google Earth for Android is Taking You 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

The ocean both terrifies and amazes me all at the same time, however, my fear always outweighs my curiosity to explore the briny depths and I keep myself planted firmly on dry land. National Geographic and Discovery Channel shows were always as close as I got to becoming familiar with the wonders of the open seas, but now Android users can see what lies beneath with the new “Explore the Ocean” layer on Google Earth for Android.

Google Earth – ocean view

Now with just a twist of your finger on your smart phone’s screen you can navigate your way through hundreds of videos and photos of the world’s ocean from over 100 brave contributors that have more than graciously agreed to share their experiences on the high seas including, as Google Mobile’s blog notes, Monterey Bay Canyon.

While this app may not turn you into Jacques Costeau, it will allow you a bit of an escape into the watery world and you never even have to leave dry land!
