Google Adds Starring Feature to Local Search, Along with TV Search Filters and more IMDB Movie Info

A few new search features have been added by Google over the weekend for the realms of TV, movie, and local searches. Users will now see the addition of director and actor information, plus IMDB user ratings and links to the database site. Google’s blog says that right now this feature is only available in English and Japanese, but users should expect other languages over time. Google also added a new search section, named “Episodes for”, that will display the three most recent programs for a particular query.

Capitalizing on the popularity of their “stars” function for Gmail, in March Google gave users the ability to mark results they were interested in so that they could return to them later with ease. Now you can do the same thing when it comes to local places. The blog gives the example of starring a place you might be interested in visiting on a future vacation. Users can access the previously marked results at a later date from any other device by simply logging into their Google account.
