According to the Taiwanese IT news site, DigiTimes, High Tech Computer (HTC) is now manufacturing one million Google Phone handsets with shipments officially commencing by the end of 2007.
Here is the leaked information on the Google Phone from components manufacturers who are working on the project:
- Google Phone will support Texas Instruments’ (TI) 3G platform and EDGE, pointed out the makers.
- Google Phone will not feature GPS functionality.
- Google Phone will also feature built-in G-mail and Google search.
- Google Phone will adopt dual brand (Google and the telecom service provider) but will not have an HTC logo on it.

Nice post Loren!
OOOOH!!! So awesome. IF this info is accurate, do you think Google is leaking details to steal some of the iPhone’s thunder?
I predict it’s not going to be a really great phone, but it will be affordable, and it will get almost all of its traction from the Google brand.
p.s. thanks!
Exciting stuff. I was holding out for an iPhone, but if more details of this gPhone leak out, I might hold out a bit longer …
Loren,
What do you think of it? Will you be getting a Google phone?
David, I’m locked into my Motorola Q for the next 18 months, so I doubt it…
But once my contract is over and if Google Phone is still on the market, perhaps.
