Yahoo’s internet portal for the mobile phone is making a grand launch in 12 countries namely, Britain, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Italy, the Philippines, Spain, Thailand and Vietnam. The Yahoo Go Mobile 2.0 was initially released in the U.S. last January.
With the addition of 12 countries, most of which having mobile-savvy citizens, Yahoo is hoping to gain several millions of users by the years end.
But of course, the success of Yahoo Go Mobile 2.0 would depend on the current status of the telecommunication infrastructure of the countries whereit will be activated. In the Philippines for instance, mobile usage maybe significant but this usage is mostly through SMS communication. Not many Filipinos are into web surfing due to high data cost charged by telecommunication providers. But it may be different in the other countries, and the mobile portal might actually pull in more users.
Yahoo Go Mobile 2.0 will be pre-installed in various Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, and Blackberry handsets.
