Yahoo plans to expand its Newspaper Consortium and advertising alliance on the global level according to Yahoo Company President Susan Decker who spoke at a Yahoo Press Conference in Taiwan (covered by DigiTimes).
Yahoo! has already reached agreements with 19 newspaper groups operating more than 400 local newspapers around the US, to carry Yahoo! advertising on the websites of these newspapers while Yahoo! will carry the newspapers’ advertising beginning mid-2008, according to Decker.
The alliance aims to integrate Yahoo!’s global presence and large number of visitors with the newspapers’ localized characteristics and local user bases, and thereby bring in more advertising clients and revenues for both sides, Decker pointed out.
Yahoo! Kimo (Yahoo! Taiwan) will be aggressively expanding the Yahoo Newspaper deal and advertising alliance with web portals in the local Taiwan market. Yahoo has struck gold with its shared advertising and content platform, not only with newspapers; but also with economic, autos, shopping and medical portals such as Forbes.com, Cars.com, eBay and WebMD.
