Google Search Results for Places Now Includes Maps and Photos

Aside from the MyLocation feature that was added to its Maps Service, Google is also putting Google Maps somewhere else – on location-based search results. Now when you do a search for a location related searches in Google, the first search result will be a map of that location plus some nice photos of that location.

Clicking on those photos or map will bring you to their photo layers on Google Maps where you can find more information about those places, as well as its other photo layers.

While this may be a simple feature, it is however a good way for Google to promote its Google Maps service, which incidentally is getting better with the many features that Google has been introducing to this service.

Google has added tremendous value to ‘search’ by ongoing improvements to features like Google Local, Google Videos, Google News and also making them a part of the blended search.

Adding photos to maps is a great idea as is adding videos as part of map listings

Something as the extra feature, and something it
doesn’t. I did a search for my road (which has road
it the title as a give away), no map, and no extra local info. So google need a add place name detection. The web still seems backwards in terms of geo targetting, and there aren’t enough standards for it yet.

If you observe the behavior of consumer, it is changing with the adaptation of latest internet technology. Now consumers are searching web for the local stores and service informations. This imparted weightage for local search engine optimization (SEO). Now incorporation of Google map on the website is playing a major role in optimizing your website for local customers.

  4. Google is continuously trying to improve their search results which I think will only help and better their engine. I think with the economy causing them to can some projects it is allowing them to really focus on their core product…search.
