Google has been given the go ahead to begin their StreetView project in the UK, which will capture images from Google cars with cameras perched on the top, and publish those images on Google Maps.

Privacy concerns surround Google StreetView because of photos published of vehicles, license plates, private property and individuals online.

The Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK released a statement that it is satisfied with Google’s efforts to protect private information.

Google will blur out vehicle registration markings and faces of people included in StreetView UK says the Telegraph.

Google added “We’ve always said we will not launch in UK until we are comfortable Street View complies with local law and that we will use technology, like face-blurring, license plate blurring and operational controls, such as image removal tools, so Street View remains useful and in keeping with local norms wherever it is availableā€
