Google Voice for Android Adds Easy Access Widgets to Home Screen

SMS Text

Now access to your Google Voice account is quicker than ever if you are using an Android phone. Announced on the Google Voice and Mobile blogs today, you can now download a Google Voice Inbox widget that will show you the most recent text and voice mail messages right to your home screen.

Previews of unread messages will appear on your Android phone’s home screen allowing you to easily and quickly flip through and open them. There are four buttons on the “settings” widget, that can be used together or separate and allow you instant access to four features: the full Google Voice app, compose and send text messages for free, adjust Google Voice preferences, have your calls go straight to voice mail by selecting Do Not Disturb.

This new app is available for download today in the Android Market.

Love the inbox widget, only wish is that it would stretch across all four columns on the home screen. Also, the arrow's could be a little larger, I constantly press the message instead of the arrows. (Using a Nexus One and Samsung Vibrant)
