Snooping on a blog's FeedBurner stats

Have you ever wondered how popular a specific blog is? You might be able to tell by doing a backward link check in [Google](http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.pronetadvertising.com&btnG=Google+Search) or by looking up their [Alexa ranking](http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?q=pronetadvertising.com&url=pronetadvertising.com), but that will not always give you a full picture. If the blog uses [FeedBurner](http://www.feedburner.com) you might be able to view their subscriber count to get another viewpoint on their popularity with a few simple steps.
###Step 1
Pick a blog and go to its’ FeedBurner RSS page.

###Step 2
Take the URL and add “~fc/” right after “http://feeds.feedburner.com”.

Example: http://feeds.feedburner.com/pronetadvertising is changed to http://feeds.feedburner.com/~fc/pronetadvertising

###Step 3
Presto, now you can view their FeedBurner stats for the last day.

This little trick only works if that FeedBurner account has the FeedCount option turned on. It may seem like accounts that have that option turned on show the feed ticker on their blog, but there are a lot of blogs that don’t show their feed ticker and have that option turned on. In most cases those bloggers used to show their feed ticker on their blog, but then removed it and they forgot to turn off the FeedCount option.
Happy FeedCount snooping!

Speak your mind!

  1. Rosano, in most cases that is true but a lot of bloggers took the ticker off their blog because they did not want it visible anymore. They just forgot to turn off the FeedCount option.

  2. Jon, the content in the first screenshot is not important; it is just there to show that it is a FeedBurner RSS page.
I do appreciate the input and next time I will try and reduce the number of toolbars when I take a screenshot.
    Thanks
