From a report via Reuters, Google offered its apology to Sohu.com, China’s major web portal.
According to the report, an investigation of Sohu technicians reveal that Google has copied a Sohu product in one of its product which includes a method for typing Chinese characters. Google was quick to admit its mistake and promised the Chinese company that Google has done to correct its act.
It was a commendable effort on Google’s part to apologize to Sohu.com. China is the second largest Internet users worldwide, and offending the Chinese people should as much as possible be avoided especially if Google and its video streaming arm YouTube had recently battled an issue with another powerful Asian country, Thailand.
At least, even the one of the most powerful and biggest online company knows some humility and knows when to accept its mistake. No wonder, Google has been successful through the years.

Funny - I see the exact opposite.
I guess it’s how people twist things to suit their feelings - Google should never have stolen that idea/work/code/whatever in the first place!
Sure - they apologized… But it’s not like they had a choice. They built their “platform” on someone else’s work and effort - they had damn well better apologize or they’d be in the Chineese Supreme Court (does it exist?) in minutes!
They were saving their own asses, not being nice.

Just think how many times they’ve gotten away with similar things unnoticed.

Very interesting. I thought this would be against their ‘don’t be evil’ motto. Good to hear they admitted wrong and apologized though.
