YouTube Extends Mobile Phone Video Coverage

January 24th, 2008 by Arnold Zafra | No Comments

Business is definitely good on YouTube land, as the web’s most popular video uploading site expands its coverage on mobile phones. The Associated Press is reporting  all video contents available on YouTube’s web portal will now also be available on mobile handsets.

But here’s the catch, those mobile phones must belong to the “smart” phone categories in order to have access to not only the millions of YouTube videos but also to other features that are available on YouTube’s web portal. These smart phones must have 3G and streaming capabilities.

YouTube is also currently in discussion with mobile phone giants Sony Ericsson and Nokia for a possible development of video uploading tool that will be embedded on mobile phones to make video uploading directly from mobile phones to YouTube easier.

Perhaps the next question to ask now is whether YouTube or Google will soon be utilizing mobile YouTube to display advertisements? But I guess the answer to that question is pretty much obvious by now.
