SMX Nanjing

Last year I attended SES Xiamen and reading back the articles I wrote back then they still stand for a big part, especially the one called Chinese lessons. This year's conference was held in a hazy Nanjing, 2.5 hours by fast train from Shanghai, and organized by Timev and SMX.There were three conferences going on at the same time in the new Nanjing Expo Centre.

Beijing Olympic Games Search Engine Logos

It won't come as a surprise to you that today on 08-08-08 at exactly 8 past 8 (If you haven't guessed it, 8 is a lucky number in China) the Olympic Games will start in Beijing. The major search engines in China have all included references in their logos to this special event that is held for the first time in China. Baidu keeps it modest and shows fireworks which will be, I'm sure, a highlight...

Baidu, the leading search engine in China, is getting involved in the coming US Presidential elections it seems. They have added a caricature of Barack Obama and the democrat donkey in the Baidu logo. From the China Perspective: This is only the sixth time that Baidu has dedicated its homepage to an individual. Baidu has also been kind enough to provide a profile of Barack as well as links to videos of Obama. Interesting choice on Baidu's...

Bloglines Has Stopped Updating Feeds – Make a Backup

Update: Bloglines seems to active again, the plumber must have been busy. Still, making a backup won't hurt. My favorite RSS Reader Bloglines has stopped updating the feeds. It's a weird experience to see all those blogs you have subscribed to and none has a new post. It can't be the Oscar event I thought. From the bloglines forum I understand this non-updating has been going on for some time now and there's even a rumor...

China Has 210 Million Internet Users

China has now 210 million users according to a press release from the China Internet Network Information Centre (The CNNIC is a government agency). That's a lot, considering that half a year ago there were only 165 million users and a year ago 137 million. In one year the number of users has gone up with 73 million users. It definitely has something to do with the fact that in their previous report the...
