Beijing Olympic Games Search Engine Logos

It won’t come as a surprise to you that today on 08-08-08 at exactly 8 past 8 (If you haven’t guessed it, 8 is a lucky number in China) the Olympic Games will start in Beijing.

The major search engines in China have all included references in their logos to this special event that is held for the first time in China.

Baidu keeps it modest and shows fireworks which will be, I’m sure, a highlight of the opening ceremony and if you look carefully you will see a sketch of the Bird’s Nest Stadium, the location for the opening ceremony, as well.

Google.cn has included the 5 Fuwas (Olympic Mascots) and the Olympic rings in their logo. I don’t recall they are an official sponsor as I thought you could only use the rings if you are. Not sure about the use of the 5 Fuwas as well. The logo is also used for the Google.com property.

Soso.com shows an athlete within in the background the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

Live.cn has set the Bird’s Nest Stadium as its background image.

Sogou.com yet again has incorporated the Bird’s Nest, this time with fireworks around.

Yahoo.cn is the only search engine that has done nothing (yet). Yahoo.com has adjusted its logo with a gold medal and running (animated) athletes.
