Local.com Brings Contractors.com Content Into Local Search

Local.com and Contractors.com, a popular local contractor directory, have entered into a content partnership agreement whereby Local.com users will have access to Contractors.com’s proprietary contractor listings and user reviews from its database of more than 1.1 million nationwide contractors. The Contractor.com listings will be displayed when a Local.com user searches for types of contractors in their area.

Local.com has been forging some quite valuable partnerships recently with content providers which are starting to build Local.com’s offerings into a strong competitor to larger local search services from Yahoo Local, Google Local, and MSN Local Search. Partnerships made by Local.com in the past year include Looksmart & Furl, Insider Pages, Ingenio, MapQuest & ePilot. Interest and usage of the Local.com local search engine is also growing, with a reported 6.9 million unique visitors and over 33 million page views during the month of December 2005, up from 5 million unique visitors and 21 million page views in November 2005.

According to Aleksandar Daskalovic, chief operating officer of Contractors.com, “We have been impressed with Local.com’s simple, easy to use interface and are happy to be part of the continued development of this excellent search engine. This partnership makes it easier for Local.com’s consumers to connect with pre-qualified contractors, while providing Contractors.com’s advertisers with qualified local buyers nationwide.”

“This content partnership with Contractors.com further builds on our strategy to aggregate the best local content on the web in key vertical segments,” said Greg Parker, director of strategic alliances for Interchange. “Contractors.com’s rich content and reviews gives our users the critical information needed to make a local purchasing decision, which is a key element in creating value for our users.”
