Mark my words: if you don’t consider it blown already, Snapchat is just about to blow up. DJ Khaled’s snaps get thousands and thousands of views, and brands like Taco Bell and Starbucks have found a lot of success interacting with users via their own profiles or through custom geofilters.
The cross-platform interaction is growing as well: Committed fans make Instagram account versions of their favorite celebrities’ snapchats, and hurriedly post new updates so no one misses out. Now you can also save your snap photos and videos, leading to a beautifully filtered new Instagram profile photo for me:
Though my favorite filter of Snapchat is currently the ridiculous face swap feature, there are new effects and filters every day—leading to a plethora of opportunities for brands to have fun and connect with Snapchat’s wide user base.
If you’re just getting started on Snapchat as a brand, it’s important to not only produce content for your public story, which can be seen by any user who adds you (the equivalent of following someone on Twitter or Instagram), but to also find users to connect with. Currently, you can’t search for users easily in the app: you have to know their exact username, which makes finding general users or even celebrities difficult to find.
That’s why I’ve compiled the following list of places to find Snapchat usernames for both celebrities and regular people.
General Snapchat User Directories
Most of the general directories let you add yourself, while also searching for new users to follow by age, location, or gender.
Specific Demographic Snapchat Directories
These directories are more specific and focus on certain people, demographics, or industries.
This UK-based directory focuses mostly on celebrities, YouTube stars, and well-known bloggers. You can’t add yourself or anyone else unless they fall under a specific set of categories. This directory is great for researching what celebrities and musicians are doing on Snapchat, or to look at more UK-based users (even though any country can be added).
Looking for what colleges or universities are on Snapchat? Check out this directory. Because Snapchat is so popular among millennials and Generation Z, it could be a great opportunity for higher education institutions to connect with perspective or current students.

This directory is organized by Ken Cook, who is in web and content marketing. That being said, this directory has more of an emphasis on finding professionals in your industry, than just people to talk to or become friends with. This directory might be worth investigating if you’re looking to connect with people in your industry or your target audience demographic.
This directory is for developers who are on Snapchat. This would be a good list to connect with if your brand is in IT, development, or technology.
Have another Snapchat username directory to add to the list? Let us know in the comments!
