Yahoo & Twitter Ad Partnership in the Works?

I just signed up for a new Twitter account today and my first Twitter generated friend was Yahoo! or Yahoo Search Marketing’s YahooAdBuzz Twitter profile.

Yes, this could just be a coincidence, but Twitter was added to Yahoo MyBlogLog last week and I really cannot see anyway the company is currently monetizing itself. Yahoo has been known to snatch up start-ups in their infancy (Delicious, Flickr) and they plan to become more social, or [buzzword] open social.

Could Yahoo and Twitter have something up their sleeves here, or is this just a random coincidence?

MyBlogLog integrated Twitter into its profiles back in May last year.

Hopefully it’s just a coincidence and not something that’s being discussed by either party. Though if it is, I’m sure it wouldn’t affect Twitter too much. How many ads could you possibly put on Twitter and still keep in line with their minimalistic design UI? Not many.
