Mike the Internet Guy : Best Local Search Blog of 2006

January 5th, 2007 by Loren Baker, Editor | 2 Comments

Local Search Blogs keep tabs on the happenings which are going on at Yahoo Local, Google Local, Local Live, AskCity, Local.com, TrueLocal and all of the other localized search and social networking services available online such as Backfence and Yelp.

Better yet, these blogs also look at ways to market via such local properties and give tips to small businesses on creating their own local Internet presence to bring in more foot traffic or online business.

Enter the popularity of mobile devices & smart phones along with search entering vehicle GPS navigation systems, and such local search blogs become more and more relevant by the day.

Congrats to Mike the Internet Guy , which was ranked by SEJ readers as the top Local Search Blog of the year, and here are the results:

Mike the Internet Guy 2.98
Greg Sterling’s Screenwerk 2.9
Small Business SEM 2.84
Understanding Google Maps & Yahoo Local 2.37
The Local Onliner 2.35

As local search continues to grow larger and larger, expect more blogs to pop up over the next year.

Great article. Local Search is a hot topic right now and the competition is finally starting to get stiff. There is a Local Search Blog I found from searchforitlocal.com that talks a bit about the growing popularity of these search engines and the affect the major search engines are having on the industry. I thought it was a good blog.
