The tools I am listing today are not for daily use. I personally play with them once in a while if I want to get a really profound understanding of (top ten) search results.
1. Map out how Google and Yahoo search results are linked to each other: Yahoo vs. Google tool
- identify “authority” sites that do (similarly) well in both the search engines;
- get more in-depth competition research.

2. Compare two very close key terms (e.g. singular vs plural, hyphenated vs one-word, etc keywords): Combo Result View

3. Identify “hub sites” (that usually rank in at least 3 of the top 10 ranking sites for your given key term and have some backlinks in common) – Traffic Marks:
- identify authority sites in your niche;
- evaluate your competition even deeper;
- identify site”communities” = those that help each other to rank (and probably belong to one owner);
- map out the “hub sites” rankings.

I really like the langreiter.com tool. Of course, the note at the bottom stating that the tool is experimental that “might go away at the engines’ request ” is pretty interesting too. Perhaps some day when Yahoo figures out how to compete with Google this tool won’t be needed.
Another nice post – you’re still my favorite contributor!
Interesting tools. The Yahoo vs. Google tool could come in handy. I just noticed a site I have…on Google it shows on top and Yahoo on bottom. I could use to bring the gap together.
Hm, this Google vs. Yahoo is really interesting tool… Actually I found a few interesting sites while I was playing with it :-)
