Google Health Goes More Social with Sharing Feature

For those who have trusted Google enough with their health records and started using  Google Health, here’s a new feature that you would certainly find useful – Google Health’s “Share Your Profile” feature.  This new feature will let you easily share your personal health records with those people you trust. Those people could be your parents, friends, or even your family doctor.

The sharing feature is attached to the person’s email address so unless the person you are sharing your health information to has divulge his/her email  account with other people no one else can look into your health records except the person who owns the email account. Likewise,  the email that Google Health will send to your contacts can’t be forwarded to other people. So you are pretty much assured that nobody else can use the link to your personal health records.

And you can also stop sharing your profile anytime that you want to, say for example you have contacted a disease which you don’t want other people, including those you trust to know about.

As an extra precautionary feature, Google Health assures users that the link to view their profiles expire after 30 days, view-only access is given out, and user activity on Google Health profile can be viewed by the users for monitoring purposes.

In addition to this new feature, Google Health has also introduced a new printing feature.  Google Health has devised two print formats for printing hard copies of  health records, a wallet-sized health card and a letter-sized comprehensive health record. Both of these printing options are in PDF formats and containts basic user health information.

Finally, Google Health has also introduced a graphing feature which would be useful for tracking down personal health history and trends. Very useful for health monitoring purposes.
