For those who value Google’s often delayed toolbar pagerank, Google is giving you all a nice New Year’s Eve present – the annual page rank update. It seems Google is now making this an annual gig as it also made a toolbar pagerank update the same time last year.
Let’s see now, the last time Google had a Toolbar PageRank update was last October. So it looks like a New Years 2010 pagerank update is just about the right time since many site owners are probably expecting it to kick off their New Year 2010.
So, with that I’m officially greeting you all – Happy New Year. May all our sites’ PageRank reach new heights next year!
But for SEO workers, we all know that Toolbar PageRank is not really that relevant anymore because this page rank is oftentimes delayed and does not really give site’s real-time page rank. But if you still value the Toolbar PageRank, check out your site’s page rank now and see if it got bumped up.

I think, all the link sellers will be joyful :) I’d got PR5 for my totally new site! A Happy New Year to everybody!
Thanks for the update! I found your article when I searched Google for “PageRank”, just after I noticed the sudden increase in my sites Rank. Thanks for the official update, I’m glad to see that many people are getting an PageRank update today. Have a great New Year!
Hehehe nice little surprise from Google
Right Arnold. my website get PR5 from PR3 today. Google has updated PR in the beginning of the new year..its welcome by SEOs to google.
Toolbar Page Rank updated for my site (PPC Blog) as well. Arnold, thanks for the reminder!
Another slight decrease in PR on internal pages, hope this doesn’t effect trading this quarter :(
Good post Arnold. What’s your view on other indexes, such as PageRank? Take for example mozRank: do you use it? Do you use other indexes to explain the authority of a domain to ‘muggle’ ;) ?
I’m more concerned about why / how Google still use Page Rank to determine the Serps. I see very little change in the listings after a PR update, many times there is a jump around the link updates, but not any drastic shifts after the PR updates.
