For Microsoft, they are the only company which stands a chance of rivaling Google in the search market five years from. This was the statement of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer which was given during an event by the ChurchHill Club.

But despite those statement, Ballmer admitted that it would take a lot of hardwork and more work for Microsoft to achieve this goal. Interestingly, during the same event in 2006, Balmer said about search as being a five-year battle. Two years after, Ballmer is saying again that it will be a five-year process.

Although “battle”  would likely be interpreted as a task. It was short of saying that the company has not done anything in two years. Steve Ballmer also said that for Microsoft to move closer to Google’s status in the search market, they must redefine a new experience and the economics search.And Microsoft is moving towards that direction now.

During the said event, Ballmer was also asked on antitrust issues but rather didn’t bother to answer the question and said that he would rather keep his thoughts about it to himself.
