Google Retracts Earlier Announcement, Will Continue to Play Rented Videos

August 21st, 2007 by Arnold Zafra | No Comments

google-video-search-engine-journal.jpgThe Official Google Blog issues a formal public apology today to the Google Video customers affected by the closing out of Google’s download to own/download to rent video services. In an effort to rectify its errors, is set to do three things:

  • As earlier announced, Google Video will be doing credit card refund to those who bought from Google video.
  • Will give customers the option to keep their Google checkout credit which they can use in Google checkout
  • And Google will extend playability of rented videos for another six months,

With a big company such as Google, it can’t afford to undermined user satisfaction towards its service. Small unavoidable glitches such as this should immediately be amended to avoid possible impacts towards Google’s reputation which it has build through the years.

Hopefully, Google would be more cautious of its future decisions to avoid problems like these. Google videos should have been a great service if it does not compete with Google’s other video site, YouTube.
