Google Expands Adwords Program to Newspaper Advertising

July 18th, 2007 by Arnold Zafra | 2 Comments

Who says newspaper media is dying? For Google, newspaper might still be a profitable advertising niche. Thus, it launches an Adwords extension program where advertisers can easily put up campaign ads on newspapers included in the Google newspaper advertising program.

The new ad program would benefit both newspaper publishers and advertisers by streamlining the process of making campaign ads which usually entails a lot of leg work and paper requirements. With the new Google newspaper advertising program, creating an ad campaign in these newspapers becomes as simple as, say clicking a mouse. Advertisers places a bid on which newspaper spot they would like their ads to appear on, publishers approve or disapprove the ad bid, then depending on the outcome of the approval/disapproval, then newspaper publishers run the ad campaigns.

Pretty easy task eh? Will this pull in more advertising revenue for Google Adwords? That would depend on the number of advertisers who will be interested to join the program which would depend on how these advertisers still see newspapers as a vital medium of information dissemination.
