Yahoo Publisher Network & Vice President Shakeup

I’m a little late to the punch here due to a couple days of International travel, but wanted to cover the recent executive shakeup at Yahoo a bit. Two of their heads of the Yahoo Publisher Network are out the door as the new network is making changes which may help it better compete with Google in terms of signing large partners (like MySpace, which it ‘lost’ to Google).

Last quarter, Bill Demas decided to leave Yahoo! to pursue his goal of leading a small company or venture. Bill has stayed on with Yahoo! since then to ensure a smooth transition for our internal teams and our customers and will be concluding his tenure as SVP of the Yahoo! Publisher Network Group at the end of November.

Will Johnson, who previously led the beta program, has also left the company. While we appreciate his contribution to the beta, we are fortunate to have a strong management team dedicated to continue to lead our Yahoo! Publisher Network efforts.

Josh Siegel will continue to lead business operations for the beta program and work with the YPN product, tech and acquisition leads to drive the program forward.

As soon as the new Yahoo Search Marketing platform begins to bring more advertisers and money into YPN, the program will surely have stronger legs to stand on, and Siegel seems capable of expanding the network. Let’s just hope, for Yahoo’s sake, it’s not too late.
