Yahoo Publisher Network Makes Some Upgrades
Given the search and blog oriented press focusing on the content advertising arm of Yahoo Publisher Network, sometimes it’s easy to forget that advertising is only one part of the total YPN offering – especially since it has gotten off to such a slow USAcentric start (with MSN adCenter breathing down its neck).
In addition to offering a revenue generating contextual advertising channel, Yahoo Publisher Network also includes the following defining offerings and direction:
* Take advantage of Yahoo! Publisher tools, services and programs. Integrate other Yahoo! services into your web site, including Add to My Yahoo! (RSS), Y!Q and much more to come…
* Help shape what Yahoo! offers the publishing community. This beta program is just the beginning. Our mission is to deliver products and services based on the needs of the publishing community.
YPN, in an effort to deliver more Yahoo generated content to publishers, has recently added a Yahoo! Developer Network link within the “Content” tab of the portal.
The marriage (or side affair) between Yahoo Publisher Network and Yahoo! Developer Network is one of Yahoo’s first steps to “add new publisher-facing products within the portal and part of a greater effort to make it easier for publishers to quickly and easily find any of Yahoo’s tools in one designated area.”
The “Content” tab now provides set-up guides for:
-Y!Q
-RSS Feeds (via My Yahoo)
-Open applications to create products (via Yahoo! Developer Network)
And now information on applying Yahoo Maps to publisher sites is now found under the Yahoo Developer Network.
