Yahoo News to Feature ABC and CNN Video Feeds
Notice anything different in your Yahoo News listings on Yahoo’s homepage, My Yahoo, and other pages within the Yahoo network where Yahoo News stories are listed? Yahoo is placing a little TV screen next to some news stories to showcase its News Video offerings in time to get users more accustomed to viewing video news on Yahoo by September. Why? Two big new media distribution agreements with CNN and ABC News. The new video feeds will be free to consumers as they are advertiser supported.
CNN video feeds are to include domestic and global news. ABC news videos are taking a more “at home” Yahoo-esque approach with featuring the day’s top news stories along with entertainment and political commentary. “Video content is becoming an increasingly important component of the online news experience for Yahoo News users, and these relationships are an important step in expanding the video content on our site,” said Scott Moore, vice president of content operations at Yahoo.
ZDNet reports “The ABC and CNN feeds will be available on the front page of Yahoo News, as well as in coverage packages. Yahoo broadband subscribers will also get the news feeds through ongoing partnerships with SBC Communications, Rogers Cable, BT and Verizon Communications.”
