Yahoo Advertising Expands on eBay
The major advertising and cross platform partnership between eBay and Yahoo is starting to solidify beyond testing of Yahoo Sponsored Search advertisements in eBay results to more targeted eBay channel advertisements and larger ads in eBay search results.
Starting today Yahoo graphic (or display) banner ads will be shown in eBay Motors. The new Yahoo ads are to be shown on the right side of the eBay Motors ‘home page’ and the ads which are shown in eBay search results are set to be increased.
Yahoo and eBay signed an exclusive US partnership earlier in the year which resulted in the agreement to serve Yahoo advertising throughout the eBay auction & marketplace network while on the flipside, Yahoo will begin integrating eBay’s PayPal into its online web services as a preferred payment option.
eBay made the following announcement on the expanded Yahoo advertising:
This week, eBay will begin displaying new graphical advertising banners as part of our partnership with Yahoo. Members can expect to see the following changes:
* On the Motors Home Page, a new graphical ad will be appearing on the right side of the page.
* On eBay.com Search Results Pages, the size of the graphical banner at the top of the page will be increased from 468 x 60 to 728 x 90. The new size will replace the existing smaller banner as well as two small text ad placements. This new ad size is the same size as the current banner ad that runs on the top of eBay Motors Search Results pages.
* On Search Results Pages, the size of the graphical banner on the lower left navigation of the page will change to 180 x 150.
By the way, this Yahoo eBay agreement in the United States is totally separate from the global SkypeBay-Google Talk partnership or the Google & eBay non-US advertising partnerships announced last week.
