Google Adds Playable Games to Its Search Results

Google has rolled out a new feature to its search results which allows users to play games just by searching for them. Now, searching for either “solitaire” or “tic tac toe” will bring up playable versions of those games in a Google SERP.

Test your patience against a deck of cards, or kick back with a game of X’s and O’s without ever having to leave Google. Solitaire is about as straightforward as one would expect, just you versus the luck of the draw. Google’s version of tic-tac-toe allows you to either square off against a computer with multiple difficulty levels, or invite a friend to play against you.

Google is calling these “two of the oldest and most popular games for all ages”, while saying search should be for having fun as much as it for conducting research and learning new information. Does that mean more fun features are on the way? That’s anyone’s guess at this point, but for now you can access these games by searching for them on desktop as well as the Google Search app.

The company also reminds that its search engine can be used for uncovering animal noises, or for settling bets by searching “flip a coin”.
