LinkedIn is introducing an Events hub, which is a new tool to help users plan in-person networking meetups.

LinkedIn Events is being rolled out worldwide to all members. The tool allows users to create and join professional events, invite connections, manage events, have conversations with other attendees, and stay in touch afterward.

“Hosting an event can seem daunting, but we’ve made the process easier by giving you features such as the ability to create private events, event update notifications, search filters to invite the right attendees, and the ability to engage with LinkedIn’s 645 million global members.”

Users can start planning events by navigating to the ‘Community’ panel on left-hand side of the main feed, then click ‘+Create.’ Next, provide the necessary details such as an event description, date, time, venue, and then invite your connections.

When inviting connections to events, you can filter them by location, company, industry, and school. Events can also be shared publicly if they’re open for anyone to attend.

In addition, LinkedIn automatically keeps attendees engaged leading up to the event with algorithmically timed notifications for important updates.

Joining Others’ Events

From the ‘My Network’ tab, users can see all the events they’ve been invited to and also discover other events shared by people in their network.

Once a user has chosen to attend an event they can see all the details of who is going and connect with other attendees. Similar to Facebook Events, attendees can communicate with each other by publishing content to a dedicated event page.

LinkedIn Events will be available to all members over the next few days, starting with English-speaking markets first.
