Google App Redesigned: One Section for Personal Interests, One for Upcoming Info

Google has released an update to its mobile app which sees the cards reorganized into one section for personal interests, and another section for upcoming information. This update is available now for Android and is coming soon to iOS.

On the personal interests side you’ll find the latest on sports, news, and entertainment — tailored to you based on your search history. On the upcoming information side you’ll find the latest about what’s going on in your day from calendar events, to flight times, to traffic conditions.

Here is a look at how you can seamlessly switch back and forth between the two sections:

The greatest benefit of this update is that you can more easily access the information you need when you need it. If you’re on the go and just need a quick look at what’s coming up next in your day, now all of that information is separated from the other cards.

On your leisure time you can keep up with the things you care about by flipping over to the current topics dashboard. This section contains the latest information about sports teams, people of interest, music, and news stories.

The Google app’s current topics dashboard is personalized based on an individual’s search history. To further assist Google in this process, US searchers will soon see a card where they can select the topics they’d like to see more updates about.
