British Invasion of Online Advertising – Problem For American Advertisers?

The market keeps opening up in the UK for internet businesses and marketers. Day in and day out websites from English entrepreneurs arise.

The latest to come out from the UK as reported on Mashable is AdJug, “The company provides an ad marketplace that will initially focus on the UK market, with expansion into Europe. Unlike Adsense, they say, they let advertisers choose where on the page their ads appear.”

It doesn’t apply to big American corporations, but when competing against small to medium size American advertisers, companies, or affiliate marketers, the English have a big advantage in search engine bids. It was announced today the U.S. Dollar has dropped to 26 year low vs. the English Pound. The Pound rose today to $2.0173, which is the highest it has been since July 1981.

The Euro still maintains a higher value than the Dollar as well at $1.3637. This really creates an issue (wouldn’t really call it a problem) for European competition in American affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is growing and showing much interest in Europe making the affiliate space much more competitive in search engine and ad networks with their ability to bid higher due to their valued currency.

Affiliate Summit is being held in London this September and should create more buzz within the industry in the UK and other European countries.
