Written by those who have both education and experience, there is a great deal we can learn in the business world from those who have been there and done that. You can often avoid missteps or get valuable advice, just from keeping up with their posts.
Startups are a popular topic for business blogs, and there are some people who specialize in it more than others. If you are looking for some useful articles on the topic, these nine sites are a must for your RSS feed:
1. Killer Startups

A team of four business experts have gathered to create a startup community that is entirely user driven. Gonzalo and Fernando Arzuaga, Matias de Tezanos, and Pepe Amorin are dedicated to bringing you the latest info on new companies, concepts, and even rumors from around the world. Be sure to check out their Guest Post section to learn how you can contribute to their blog.
2. AVC
New York venture capitalist Fred Wilson is an expert in all things VC. He helps others to bring their startup technology dreams into focus and to life, through both his blog posts and his radio show. Every Monday, he has guest posters from the industry, so be sure to read those every week.
3. Startup Tunes
Find out about the latest startups with this website dedicated to reviewing Web 2.0 sites. They monitor startups and check them out for you, writing extensive reports on their services, products, and general quality. You can also find them on Twitter and Facebook.
4. Steve Blank
One of the best known figures in lean startups, there is a whole lot of information on this blog. From extensive posts on creating a sustainable business to video-centric online courses on entrepreneurship, you can find it all here. Steve Blank himself is a fascinating man who has done it all, and it is worth a regular visit.
5. Both Sides of the Table
Very highly recommended by most entrepreneurs, this site run by Mark Suster is full of great interviews with startup experts, business owners, and venture capitalists. They cover everything from financing to marketing. This is a really great one to add to your RSS feed.
6. Venture Hacks
Ever wished you knew little tricks to ‘hack’ your way into great startup success? You’re in luck! Nivi and Naval are there to teach you everything they know, which—given their list of investments, startups, and business accomplishments—you can assume is a lot. Want even more than their blog has to offer? Check out their Books and Products pages.
7. Mixergy
More than 601 interviews (and counting) and 28 courses are posted here. The point is to learn from other entrepreneurs who have created startups themselves—the more successful, the better. All you need is an email to start, and you can find regularly updated videos daily.
8. VentureBlog
August Capital’s David Hornik has created a frill-free, completely information-based blog with tons of information on entrepreneurship, venture capital, and startups. He writes from his personal point of view, often with a nice twist of humor or friendliness that is always nice to read.
9. Ben’s Blog
Ben Horowitz is only one of the bloggers on the wider A16Z network, but he is probably my favorite. It isn’t often you get Dr. Dre audio clips mixed in with venture capital news or financing information for startups that are low on funding. But here, it is a regular thing. He is also incredibly blunt, doesn’t hold back, and is open about his personal experiences, both good and bad.
