Ask Jeeves Honcho Barry Diller SES NY Keynote
Search Engine Strategies has landed another huge name for its Keynote speaker at the 2006 Search Engine Strategies New York Conference : Barry Diller of IAC. Mr. Diller will have some big shoes to follow, as the Keynote Speaker at last year’s conference was Yahoo Co-Founder Jerry Yang. Regardless, Mr. Diller should be able to provide a bit of insight on the future of Ask Jeeves and the integration of IAC owned content into Ask, along with Ask search tools integrated into IAC.
Expect Barry Diller to cover such topics as a new Ask Jeeves hosted Bloglines blog search (like they offer in Japan), IAC’s new comparison tool/engine Pronto, expansion of Smart Answers (a crowd favorite), Web 2.0 and Ask, Ask Jeeves usability improvements, and maybe even an announcement that Ask will be dropping Jeeves (oh no!).
This should be an exciting Keynote speech and sit down event for the SES NY show, especially with such new players in the search marketing and social search market this year, including News Corp, Local.com, MSN adCenter, and the Yahoo Social Tagging User Review Media Morph along with Yahoo Publisher Network.
Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Watch and Search Engine Strategies made the Diller announcement on the Search Engine Watch Blog (voted best Search Engine News Blog of 2005 by SEJ readers):
I’m very happy to announce that Barry Diller, chairman and CEO of InterActiveCorp, will be kicking off our Search Engine Strategies show in New York next month with a keynote on the morning of the first day, February 27. IAC owns Ask Jeeves along with a variety of vertical search properties.
Danny’s also looking for speakers for the SES NY conference. I’ll have a follow up post on that later.
