How To Assess The Distance Between Search Ranking Positions: An Interview With Aaron Kronis

A big thanks to our Pubcon 2014 sponsor, LinkResearchTools, your off-page SEO toolkit. Link Detox: Recover – Protect – Build.

At Pubcon 2014 in Las Vegas, I had the opportunity to talk with Aaron Kronis of Stamina Records about keyword research for PPC campaigns.

More specifically, we discussed how you can assess the distance between search positions. It might be easy to jump from 5th to 4th, but it could be a costly challenge to go from 4th to 3rd and so on.

In the video below, Aaron discusses how you can use data to better estimate how much work would be involved to achieve higher ranking positions and whether doing the work would make financial sense for your company.

PPC Keyword Research: An Interview with Aaron Kronis

Here are some key takeaways from the video:

  • Using a tool called Market Brew you can use link data and other industry standard data to assess the distance between ranking positions.
  • The advantage of having this information is to make better decisions about which keywords you should devote your time into ranking for.
  • Market Brew uses a Google simulator to crawl your site and competitor sites to return this data.
  • The tool will then give you recommendations on which keywords you should go after based on the amount of work that would be involved to rank higher for them.
