AOL Search Oscar Picks : Brokeback Mountain and Joaquin Phoenix

AOL Search Oscar Picks : Brokeback Mountain and Joaquin Phoenix

AOL Search is making its Academy Awards predictions based upon which Oscar nominated films and actors have piqued the most interest with AOL searchers. Judging by factors of public intrigue and actor popularity (or the lack of it) AOL Search has been wrong in its predictions in the past.

However, it’s always fun to look into these press relation pieces by AOL and see how their AOL Search technology does with their Oscar picks.

Based on the nominees that received the most queries last week on AOL Search, the Search Oscars goes to:

* Actor in a Leading Role: Joaquin Phoenix, Walk the Line
* Actor in a Supporting Role: Jake Gyllenhaal, Brokeback Mountain
* Actress in a Leading Role: Reese Witherspoon, Walk the Line
* Actress in a Supporting Role: Rachel Weisz, The Constant Gardner
* Best Motion Picture: Brokeback Mountain

AOL is also featuring its AOL Search 2006 Academy Awards Snapshots, which are informational hubs servedwith search results which focus on AOL Content around those queries (similar to, but not the same as, Ask Smart Answers):

The 2006 Academy Awards Snapshot on AOLSearch.com contains various Oscars coverage, including the ability to watch video movie trailers for the Best Picture nominees without leaving the search page. The Snapshot also includes tabs featuring images of all nominated actors and actresses, links to additional information about the nominees and categories and links to other trailers for the movies associated with each major category. Additionally, the winners in each category will be updated on this Oscars Snapshot, live, the night of the awards.
