#Pinterest Launches Analytics Tool for Business

Starting today, marketers with business accounts on Pinterest now have a tool for tracking basic web traffic between their verified website and Pinterest.  Pinterest Web Analytics offers tracking of several key performance indicators and is, most likely the first steps to monitizing the highly popular virtual dream board.

Pinterest Web AnalyticsThe web analyitcs tool enables participants to track content from their verified website that has been pinned, and how it propagates via views and repins through the network.  The tool also tracks referral traffic to the business website from Pinterest.

Last summer Shareaholic showed that Pinterest was already beating Twitter, StumbleUpon, Bing, and Google in referral traffic. Furthermore, Pinterest users are 10 percent more likely to make a purchase than people who come over from other networks, according to Shopify.

Aside from the possibility of advertising or “promoted” pins of some sort, this tool indicates there is potential for premium business account services and maybe even the ability to purchase pinned items within Pinterest.
