New Yahoo Board Pushes Time Warner Talks Again

It looks like the first order of battle for the “new” Yahoo Board is to push for Yahoo’s merger with another company. But definitely it’s not gonna be Microsoft. Well, at least not this time yet. In a brief report, the Financial Times is citing “one person familiar with the company’s thinking” in to saying that the Yahoo Board, which just met for the first after the appointment getting Carl Icahn, has approved the move to push forward the floating merger talks with Time Warner.

If you will recall one of the options considered by Yahoo while battling an acquisition threat by Microsoft, was the possibility of merging with Time Warner’s AOL. Time Warner was rumored to be planning on splitting up its properties into the AOL’s media and Internet access group. But that plan was put on hold as Yahoo was struggling from the clutches of Microsoft back then. Since then nothing was heard about the plan, until now.

FT also cited that there has no active negotiations yet, as the Yahoo Board has just met for the first time since Icahn join the Board.

Hopefully, this time something fruitful might come out of the negotiation. The rumored deal would somehow be beneficial to both companies.
