Microsoft, Yahoo Deal Gets Support from Ad Agencies

While the Microsoft-Yahoo search deal is pending scrutiny from the government, here comes a group of advertising agencies issuing an open letter in support of the said deal. The American Association of Advertising Agencies is urges the U.S. Department of Justice to approve the deal saying that it enhances the search competition.

The open letter was addressed to the U.S. Department of Justice and was captioned – “An Open Letter to the US Department of Justice Regarding Search Advertising”, argues that since more money is being spent on search advertising, it is imperative that Google’s dominance is finally checked. And the Microsoft-Yahoo search deal is one good way of putting a balance to the otherwise monopolized market.

“A healthy, competitive market for search and search advertising is crucial to the Internet’s future. As leading members of the advertising and marketing services industry, we urge the Department of Justice to bring its antitrust review to a speedy conclusion,” the group said in their open letter.

The group also wants the search deal to materialize as soon as possible.

The Open Letter was signed by AAAA President and CEO Nancy Hill together with CEO’s of Publicis Groupe, WPP, Interpublic Group of Companies and Omnicon Group. All companies are major players in the online advertising market.
